A little about myself. I joined the Socialist Party of Great Britain in 1951. Over the years I have spoken for Socialism at many meetings and debates. I have served on the editorial committee of the The Socialist Standard, the World Socialist Journal and have written and produced pamphlets, in particular "Socialism as a Practical Alternative."

For some years I have thought it most important that the ideas of socialism should be developed as a positive and practical alternative to our present world capitalist system.

Addendum March 2007: Sadly, Pieter died on 14th March 2007, leaving a legacy of ideas including those set our here. These are also dealt with in the political novel entitled "The Last Conflict" published by Pieter in 2006. This book is available though his family or from amazon.com. Pieter was buried by family and friends near his home of 46 years. Although Pieter has lived his life and is now gone, he lives on in all our many memories.
